CONQUERING SUMMER

(Hello Bonjour Hola
This is the daunting, inevitably cringy, post number 1. If you're here it's probably because you've gave in to my incredibly annoying pestering on some sort of social media SO THANK YOU. )

We all know the stereotype of summer: late nights; rockin' pool parties; going to the beach; bonfires etc. And we all know how our summer actually turns out: waking up at noon; watching a whole TV series in 24 hours; pigging out on all the chocolate in the house and thinking dancing round the house to Cindy Lauper counts as excercise (okay, maybe its just me).

Oh and not only do we know that our summer is possibly not as...exciting as others, we are kindly reminded, constantly, by the social media :). Firstly, we have good ol' snapchat displaying over 100 seconds of  blurry videos. But its funny how most days their story is empty. Then facebook, ahh facebook. The check-ins are a definite fave of mine. We have gone from a generation of "Im somewhere, with people doing stuff" to a generation of every little detail- time, place, with whom, an emotion, a picture,oh and of course all finished off with a cute emoji. Now my point is, social media is a trick that we are all guilty of. On days when I actually do venture out of my house and do something exciting, I am quick to post a status or a picture. Maybe we do it to remind people that we are exciting, that we are popular and that we are having a great summer. Or maybe to remind people that we are, in fact, still alive.

But you know what, I actually think we are living the high life. 'We' who stay up late /early/ watching youtubers. 'We' who are dreading the "so what did you do this summer?" can now answer proudly. After all, we're now an army of people who are all alike. An army of people who don't see the necessity in getting changed out of their pj's. An army of people who can create excitement within their four walls. An army of people who are conquering Summer.

Em :)

P.s. Can't wait for Winter.
